Description

An LRGB image that Wim van Berlo and I processed from free data from the Liverpool Telescope, a 2 m RC reflector on La Palma. I processed the RGB data in PS while Wim processed a B/W version of it in PixInsight that I then added as a luminosity layer.

The very few images I have seen on the net of NGC 3963 are quite fuzzy and I think this may be the most detailed so far and reveals what looks like a tidal trail probably caused by the dwarf galaxy seen above the trail. There is a discussion about this tidal trail at this url:

Filters and exposures used.

sdss-r 15 x 90 s (red channel)

Bessell V 8 x 90 s (green channel)

Bessell B + sdss-g 22 x 90 s (blue channel)

Lum 37 x 90 s from all channels merged.
